Being in a relationship can be a positive and fulfilling experience - an opportunity to grow close to another person, to support one another and to learn from each other.
But sometimes, relationships break down and don't function as they should or as they once did. Partners can become overly reactive to each other and may even reach an 'emotional stalemate'. It is at this juncture that a Couples Counsellor may be able to help.
Relationship breakdown can be the result of a number of things, including an unexpected crisis or circumstance, stress, financial problems, values conflict, or lack of trust.
My aim in couples counselling is to work with you together to find a resolution, identify new ways of relating, learn better and more effective communication skills in order to build a strong and healthy relationship.
My approach with couples is focused and specific, culminating in a set programme designed to identify patterns of behavior, develop new ways of communicating, and learn more about inter-generational influences; all leading to a new and refreshed perspective and better relating.
